Flexibility & Injury Prevention: Keep Your Body Tuned Up

The way our body parts are located and hinged together is undoubtedly a work of art. Bones, muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints intertwine to create a functional structure, which we call the “human body.” The amount of work that goes on to simply raise an arm is more than most understand, appreciate or even care to think about. Learning more about your body can be the key to prolonging these important muscles and joints which most take for granted day in and day out.

Stretching

We as a global community must embrace the many benefits of stretching, and develop a lifestyle to back it up!

The foam roller is a form of self-myofascial release , which is soft tissue therapy. Why is this necessary? There are many things we do throughout the day that may cause tight muscle groups. This may lead to excess pressure, pain or discomfort  in your body.

 Preventative Training

Don’t stand by and wait for something to happen, take action and strengthen your shoulders! If you’re suffering from old injuries or trying to prevent new ones be proactive and do these simple exercises. These exercises are recommended to be done in the morning when you wake up to activate your muscles and increase blood flow. They will  also be beneficial to do before doing any type of resistance training  or weight bearing exercises.
