There are many different ways of training your muscles, most of which revolve around the contractions of your muscle groups, flexibility training is the complete opposite. While trying to get more flexible, the idea is to elongate and lengthen your muscles. This will allow your muscles to gain elasticity and live your life through full range of motion What are the benefits of this?

Gain elasticity:

Think of your muscles as rubber bands, the stronger the rubber band, the more it can stretch without breaking. The same holds for your muscles, the more you stretch, the more strength your muscles will gain through a larger range of motion. This will allow your muscles and joints to move with more freedom. With this being said, more elasticity equals increased blood flow. Increased  blood flow means more oxygen and nutrients  continuously being delivered, this give your body the opportunity to function at optimal levels. Keeping your muscles flexible will also help you build strength, as well as decrease your risk of injures and posture issues in the future. Basically, keeping your body flexible and blood flowing efficiently is one of the best things you can do for your body.
